I just got new heads for my Meridian Maple and had a session of re-heading tonight. G1 coated over G1 clear on toms, power centre rev dot over hazy 300 on snare, EMAD 2 over EQ3 on kick - but wait!
The EMAD 2 will not fit my kick drum.
I have a 20, 10, 12, 14, 14 set up. I got all my heads brand new in the correct sizes and all but that one are great!
The issue is that the highest point of the bearing edge doesn't sit on a flat part of the head, and the rather stiff 2-ply construction stops it from ever doing so. The edge sits in the shoulder of the head, and even with the TRs cranked right down it never seats properly.
I've put the stock kick head back on for now (of the bunch it's probably the best stock head on it), and will sell this EMAD 2 on the bay and replace it with something else.
Anyone got a suggestion for something that I can use instead that will actually fit the drum? I'm thinking 1 ply with built in overtone control, but I've only really used evans heads on kick before now.
