Drummers for Hire in Full Time Bands

I haven't played in quite a while. Been almost a year now.

I want to start playing again, just sitting in and cover band stuff.

I always found it hard to be in a full time band and still be a 'Drummer for
Hire'. A lot of the times, I found that the bands I would get hired by, wanted me to join full time.

And then if I was ever in a full time band with buddies, they wouldn't love it much when I was subbing and playing with other bands and busy all the time.

Just need to balance time and make sure no one gets shafted.
I work full time as a for-hire musician. That means I have to play in 10 bands all the time just to make a living. No one group works enough, or pays me enough to just be with them and no one else. I am up front about that with any new clients that want me to start working with them.

And I get asked all the time to "join a band full time" because some people don't want to hire someone, they want an equal member. Nothing wrong with that, and I am open to being a full time member, but that doesn't mean I can do it for free.
