I want to buy yamaha recording custom, and I found one that is in good shape and the price is ok, but I have few questions about it's badge. Recordings have two set of letters and numbers, one below model, and the other one below serial number. This one has "RECORDING" written on the badge and no numbers. Also, it has no vent hole that all other yamahas have on their badge. So what an I really asking is: Is it really RC, and how old could it be? here is the picture: (I found this one on the internet, the one I like to buy is deep cherry) YAMAHA RC BADGE |

The RC's with YESS mounts don't have holes in the badges at all. These have YESS mounts. The rack toms will still have 2 badges, one on either side of the mount. One will have RECORDING on it, the other will have the numbers. The vent is below the mount, so it has nothing to do with the badge. These pictures are correct RC's.
Only the older, pre-YESS RC's had holes in the badges, with the vent corresponding to one of the badges.
