Hi All,

Well this time let's try something a bit different, this time just post guitar players who have killer and unique tones that you like.

Mine are:
Satch
Andy Timmons
Eric Johnson
John Forgerty

Besides, I also like noisy guitars, so I'll go with Lee Ranaldo and Thurston Moore. I also love Robert Smith's guitar tone in songs like In Between Days or The Kiss.

Now it's yours turn guys.

Favorite is not a word in my music vocab, but here are a bunch of guys I'm loving listening to these days:

Jimmy Herring,
Oz Noy,
Scott Henderson,
Wayne Krantz,
Michael Landau,
Joe Bonamassa,
John Scofield,
David Fiuczyniski,
Derek Trucks,
Warren Hayes

Love a good guitar sound!

Blues
Jimi
Jeff Beck
BB
Stevie Ray
Ry Cooder on slide

Others
Brian May
Dave Gilmour
Carlos
Steve Hillage
Mick Ronson
Steve Hunter
Tommy Bolin.

More "locally", the guy from Larry's main band has a fabulous sound *jealous*

A guitarist I used to play with used to knock me out with this clear, sparkling tone he'd get. Here's a thing he played for me back in the Paleozoic Era for me when I was putting together a collection of mood music.

When we first played together I thought it was this great Gretsch semi-acoustic he had, but he extracted similar sounds from pretty well any axe he had in his hand. Mad as a cut snake, but he had the touch :)

Polly, my guy Zig will be surprised to hear that! He does have a good tone.
I'm a little partial to Danny Gatton.
Everybody mentioned so far could qualify too. Ry Cooder probably has the coolest name though

Truly unique guitar tones? Hmmm.

Jeff (Skunk) Baxter
Jimmy Page
Jimi Hendrix
Mark Knopfler
Brian May
Tom Scholtz
Carlos Santana

There's probably a few others I will think of and add later.

I like pairs...

Jade Puget of AFI,
Eddie van Halen
Some other guys that I don't know the name of. Generally, I consider any guitar player that can count to 4 in a given tempo to be above average.

Hilarious Philly! I'm going to steal that line to throw at my guitarist.

That's one of the reasons I posted those guys: they are amazing rhythm players. All of them.

Carlos Santana, (his percussionist is pretty awesome too), Eddie Van Halen and Jimi Hendrix are my top faves.

Will Bernard plays with Stanton Moore I believe and I really like him. Buckethead is the best though
