For me, itís the classic design of the Swivo, combined with the more polished finish itís sold in, instead of the brushed aluminum look of the Tama. The footboard is also barefoot friendly on the dyno, and not on the Tama. Functionally, theyíre porabably the same, but I think the design and brushed finish on the Tama looks kind of cheap, and the Rogers looks much more like a solid pedal. I linked a high res photo of the new Dynomatic so you can see what it looks like.

Bermuda,

Sorry to bombard you with questions, but, are the Vistalites completely made in the US, or are the shells made overseas and the drums assembled here? Also, is that cool two tone Blue/Green set a one off or will that be a special order finish? BTW, those silver dots look amazing!

Vistalites are US made, and I think the b/o kit is just for display and to demonstrate that Ludwig can do some (basic) custom finishes. Really, the large kits that grace the front of the booth each year are meant to get attention more than anything else. :)

Thanks, Bermuda! Ever since I got my Club Dates, I’ve dove head first into the Ludwig deep end, metaphorically speaking! I’m completely geeking out right now at all these amazing kits! :)

I don't want to sound like too much of a cheerleader for the company, but they've really done some cool new product on the Asian side, and especially with the U.S. drums on both ends of the price spectrum. The Neusonic is what the Signets were trying to be, but done better all around, and without the self-assembly stigma, which (understandably) didn't rate well with most drummers.

Not sure about the kick, I think it's 24, and it's 12" deep! It sounds great, deep and punchy. Anyone that believes they need a deep kick for low end needs to consider diameter, not depth. This drum is proof!

The Neusonics sound really great, a bit of the warmth of the Club Dates with some Classic Maple attack. They speak and they have tone, so win-win. I like the traditional tom sizes, and the black finish is especially sharp. May not exactly be a Cortex (Formicaô) but it's suitably close.

I would absolutely play these in town, but for touring they'd need beefier kick spurs. Tom mounts (floor tom leg mounts) are nice and not bulky.

These are great kits, I think Ludwig will do well with them.

Do they have a video showing a head change? Be interesting to see what's involved.

On my phone now hard to get too deep into their website.

It looks like Ludwig is putting PS3s on the bass drum resos. Very cool.

I can't see ever owning a set, but those pink Vistalites are beauties!

I really like what's happening at Ludwig right now. Not many companies get a second shot at glory after family ownership changes, but they have really made it all the way back. I love my babies, that's for sure.

I’ve never been a lover or hater of Ludwig, but some their new stuff demands consideration. Rogers is likely going to kill it with just about anything they go to market with. Nice to see they are holding to some of their history and making it modern all the same. Tama...they pretty much always kill it with anything in their star line.
All my opinion of course, but some really tasty things being introduced this year.

I didn’t know about the limited edition Club Dates! I wonder if the sound is closer to the classic Mahogany shells from the 60’s than the maple drums I have?

From Ludwig:
"Mahogany Limited Edition
Introducing a limited engagement in Ludwig’s Club Date USA series. Designed under the same construction principles of our popular Club Date series drums, we set out to offer another great “Retro Spec” sonic option. They feature a 7-ply shell comprised of a 2-ply interior and exterior of African Mahogany with a 3-ply poplar core. It is available in select premium finishes
with less than 200 being produced world-wide!"

I would think they are warmer and lower than the maple/poplar Club Dates, which are already warm and low thanks to the poplar and rounded edges.

Ok, just found this on the Ludwig site. They’ve just uploaded the “NEW for 2018” product catalog, and everything so far that’s been said on the thread, like the Mahogany Club Dates and the 12/16/22 sizes is all there, and some great pictures.

Here’s the link:

I dig them, unfortunately they're not doing single ply heads for resos. Maybe they'll add them down the line, but for now I'll probably pass because I don't like 2-ply reso heads and if I'm buying colored heads, I want batters and resos.

My Clubbies were made in November, does that mean mine were some of the last to have the Silver badges? Also, the silver dots don’t show up in the NEW for 2018 Catalog. Are they being released separately?

I don't really understand the technical advantage of having the spring up on the pedal frame, does anybody know ?
It reminds me the Capelle Pedal - very supple :

But not better than a very standard Camco.

Not sure about a technical advantage, but easier to adjust tension from the stool I think. Sonor and Pearl used similar designs in the 70's (to about 1995 for Sonor).

Ease of adjustment without getting in the floor. I guess it really only matters when you are first dialing the pedal in.

Think about how much easier it would be to play a back line kit if you could reach down and adjust tension between drummers.

Probably the last silver badges, so sorta cool.

The heads will be available at some point, I'm not sure why they weren't listed. They may not have been ready in time to shoot a pic for the brochure.

Hmm, I'm interested in seeing the new paint finishes of "Heritage Blue" and "Heritage Green" Ludwig is offering. Sadly, only for the Classic Maple and Legacy Maple series, not Club Dates. I'm wondering if the HG finish will be their version of Gretsch's "Cadillac Green."
