Default What Should I Ask for my drum kit?

I have to sell my drum kit to pay for school. I have a 5 Piece Pearl Export Series kit. It's black with black hardware. I will be selling my Sound Percussion throne, Pearl Eliminator Demon Drive Double Pedal, Sabian B8 series cymbals that include 14" Hi-Hat, 18" Medium Crash, and 20" Thin Ride, 8" Splash, and a Paiste 18" China Cymbal. I also have a Zildjian Cymbal Bag and Road Runner gig bags for the entire set. The drums were used regularly for gigs and could use new lug screws and the snare top hoop is rusted and could be replaced. The Eliminator Demon Drive double pedal is also about three years old and has wear and tear and a bit of rust, but still works just as good as it did the day I bought it, I lubricated it regularly. I want to get the most money out of it as I can, but I want to sell it for a fair price as well.

Also would I make more money selling the parts separately rather than as a whole?

Personally I'd probably sell the pedals seperately. Roughly half of what you paid for them is a good starting guide. But of course the used market is tricky.....sometimes you can get more, other times much less. But be aware that rust on a three year old pedal is not a good sign that they've been treated with utmost TLC and may drag the price down a little.

Whilst the Exports were a great little intermediate kit in their day, they were also the most popular selling line of drums ever......so this pretty much means that they're a dime a dozen.

Sabian B8 are entry level cymbals and won't fetch much. Selling the cymbals and kit to a beginner is probably your best option.....but don't expect a fortune for them. I'd check ebay's completed sales for Pearl Exports and base my price on what recent kit and entry cymbal packages have sold for.

Yes. And sell 'em on eBay. Craig's List buyers typically "low ball" sellers. Run all the auctions at once, and if someone wants to buy the whole kit, they can. But a cat who wants just an add-on rack tom, or floor tom, or kick .... he's not gonna buy a whole kit (and pay for shipping) just to score one drum. And also, sell all the hardware/cymbals separate.
