Recording drums and music through a zoom q3hd using Roland TD-6V

I have a dilemma. I've managed to get the music and drums to record through the zoom q3hd, but I just need to figure out how to listen to the music and drums through my head phones. I've put midi in (phones) into the line-in of the zoom q3hd and midi out/thru mix in into my ipod.

I just don't know where to plug my headphones in so I can listen to the music and drums at the same time. The only available option left on the td-6v is L-output-R.

Any ideas?

This is a picture of the set up i use when playing music through the td-6v. In-phones is where I put my headphones in. The out/thru mix in is where I plug my ipod in. Doing this I get the music and drums coming through my headphones so I can play to the music.

This is the set up for using the zoom q3hd. In phones is plugged into the line-in of the zoom q3hd. The out/thru mix in is connected to my ipod. Doing this I am getting the music and drums coming through the zoom q3hd, but I can't listen to the music and drums through my headphones, so I can't play along whilst recording, as I don't know where to put the headphones.

Don't know why you're using the MIDI output, I just use the headphones jack with a splitter (see the thread below for pics and details- post no. 20 has the pic you need).

Leave your Ipod as is inthe mix in. Use this http://www.ebay.com/itm/15-ft-foot-...bles_Snakes_Interconnects&hash=item5657711d55
to connect your L - OUTPUT - R to your Q3HD LINE Input Jack. Your phones should be able to be plugged into either unit, although to get best levels I'd use the Q3HD.

Ah yes, turns out you need to login to vdrums to view pics (have re-attached here).
That splitter from Amazon should do the trick nicely (mine's the same thing basically).
Just make sure that the MIC GAIN is set on the LO setting whatever you do!
I was also thinking it might be a bit of a pain to record with the TD6 since it doesn't have a mix-in volume knob (I use a TD-10 which does) so you may have to adjust the group volume of your drums around the track volume on your ipod.
As per instructions for recording setup: 1/4 inch jack adapter (make sure it's STEREO!!) goes into the headphones jack of your module, 3.5mm (I think that's 1/8 inch if you're American) splitter plugs into that, then use one output for headphones, the other goes to the line in on the camera.
Will be looking out for your vid to hit the forum!

The back of the td-6v looks like this so, pretty basic. So I might have to do what camcoman said and get one of those stereo 2 mono cables. Unless I just need to get one of those splitters you mentioned, but not a stereo jack one.

You misread the labels on your module. In the very first photo you posted, ignore the top row of text. Read the 2nd row: "phone" and "mix in". (The "MIDI IN" and "MIDI OUT/THRU" are referring the 2 fan-shape five-hole plugs.)

So, you have the "phone (out)" of TD-6V plugged into your Q3HD's line in and the "mix in" plugged to the music. That sounds correct.

I believe you can listen to the final mix from the Q3HD's Line Out. On Q3HD, under the Setting menu, there is a "Sound monitor" option. You have to turn it on.

D'OH! Forgot that the TD6 has a 1/8 inch input for the headphones (used to own one many moons ago) in which case you won't need the 1/4 inch jack adapter (assuming you use the same device shown in my setup).
