Sibelius Notation

Hey guys,

Trying to put several transcriptions I've done into Sibelius, needing some assistance!

First up, what would you use to notate a 'splashed' hi-hat with the foot? (and is there a way to make it play back that sound?)

Second how would you distinguish between a rim-click (butt of stick held on skin of snare drum, shaft tapped against rim) and a stick-click (hitting sticks together?)

My problem is I'm doing transcriptions of Jorge Rossy's work with Brad Mehldau's trio and he does a lot of stuff that's transcribable but an absolute pain in the arse to enter into Sibelius. Have you guys got experience with any other software that might make this easier?

Maybe you could refer to this book, Guide to Standardized Drumset Notation, by Norman Weinberg, which was an attempt to standardize drum set notation.

Not everybody, myself included, will agree on everything in the guide, but it's a good starting point.

Sibelius drumset notation is basically set on Weinberg's guidelines.
Then you can basically use, create or edit any symbol you may need.

Splashed hi-hat w/foot for example, is normally written with an O sign under the actual note. If you want to get Sibelius to actually play this sound, it gets a little more complicated, because it isn't included in the General Midi (GM) sounds.

Try pressing shift+alt+1, it should change the notehead to a cross. :)
