Drum teachers in New York

Hey guys,

I'm heading to NYC in October for a holiday, and was hoping to get a lesson or two from some teachers over there. I've heard that Jo Jo Mayer does private lessons, and a few other folk. Was just wondering if anyone has any reccomendations for teachers in New York?

Also, anything else in New York that I have to see?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Moon,

Anyone else have any ideas?

Anyone on the Drummer's Collective Faculty. Kim Plainfield is amazing! As mentioned, Pat Petrillo is there too. Pete Retzlaff is a great jazz drummer. Jason Gianni is a great player all around. Adriano Santos is amazing too.

John Favicchia is not at the Collective, but he is in the New York area. You should check him out too. Check them out!

Please check out BANG! The Drum School.

www.bangthedrumschool.com

full disclosure: I am the founder.

That being said, we've helped a few hundred drummers since we started the school in the Summer of '09, and my credentials are not bad: I was one of the winners of Modern Drummer Magazine's drum solo contest that was judged by Neil Peart back in '89.

Our motto is to provide ego-less, friendly but highly qualified instruction from great drummers....for all levels.

If you google "drum lessons brooklyn" we come up #1 in the organic rankings..... Hope you consider giving us a try.....Thanks either way.....of course the Collective is a great place to study, I spent a bunch of time studying there myself.
