Does anybody know the retail price for the 2011 Ludwig Centennial Zep Set?

Is that the kit you are talking about or is there and actual Zep Set this year?

There's a Centennial Zep Set in the 2011 catalog. I own last year's green sparkle Centennial as shown in the link there. It looks like they are discontinuing the green sparkle altogether now though. I think it's kind of funny that they are introducing the Zep sizes, but discontinuing the green sparkle. Maybe they are doing this so that people cannot get the Zep sizes in green sparkle... if you want the Bonham's sizes AND his colour, I guess you'd have to buy into a Classic Maple or something where the options are more plentiful. If this is their logic, it's good marketing :)

Yes good marketing indeed but i'm torn between the red or silver sparkle I guess if I want to keep the Bonham thang happening I could go with the silver sparkle, Bonham had a silver sparkle kit in-between his Amber Vistalite's(Song Remains the Same) & the Stainless Steel kit(Knebworth) and would look sweet under lights (red lights=red drums, blue lights = blue drums & so on).

But there's something about a red sparkle kit that just looks cool anyway.

either way i'm sure I would be happy.

I noticed though in the Ludwig Catalog the first tom was 14x10 not 13x9 did you swap toms? Natural Maple is a very nice choice his first finish but very classy anyway. That seems pricey for a overseas kit but it is cheaper then the classic maple kit & a lot cheaper then a legacy kit. Pics would be nice if possible

Congrats on the purchase,

Just curious... they offered a Centennial model 12x26 bass drum in the past? I didn't think they were available in these sizes until now; the 2011 catalog being the first time I've seen these shallow bass drum sizes available. I got mine late 2010, and at the time you could only get deep bass drums with minimum depths of 20". I've got a 20x24" bass. When did you get yours Adrian?

The 14x26 is a new offering (as is 18x22 and 16x24).
They must have been listening to the requests for "normal" sized bass drums.

There was a Natural Maple (and Silver Sparkle) "Zep set" in the Accent line a few years ago. I saw it at a GC, and it was nice.
I know someone who got the SS version, it sounded OK...it probably actually sounds good, his tuning on it just stank.

I'm sure the Centennial Zep set will sound even better since there using NA Maple instead of Asian it gonna be the poor mans Bonham kit which is right up my alley lol.

I still think $2100 is pricey through just my opinion of course.

Bonzolead.ta mate! :) i got my kit late last year&no i didn't swap the 9x13 for the 10x14.
The particular shop/store i bought it from(the ONLY "authorised " Ludwig dealer in Australia) wouldn't allow it &said that it (10x14) is a 'special" order &would take 4-6 months&cost me $519 AUD!.Yet on Sam Ash's website it lists for $235 USD! &they have it in stock! :).I replaced the factory Remo-Taiwanese heads(clear) for brush finish/coated Emperors top&the same but in ambassadors bottom. They also(shop/store&"authorised"/factory Ludwig dealer) wouldn't allow/let me swap the maple 14x6.5 for a surpaphonic LM402 that would cost me $840AUD! :(.

I just priced a kit which was the "Dragster" centennial set, with the 13"X 7" Black Magic snare, it was priced at $1150.00 Canadian. The new 2011 centennial line won't be released until November 2011 is what I was told.

Cheers,

The Centennials DO sound really nice, and look great.
I like the lugs and the badge is real nice in person.

I have no reason to get another kit, but if I was looking, the Centennial would probably what I'd get.
The wood is great, the edges are done flat and well so the heads seat correctly (on the kits I've seen). The interior woods aren't as "pure, blemish free" as a CM or Legacy, but I wouldn't give it a second thought if I had one of theses.
It's wood forcryinoutloud. It has lines, and marks, and dark spots naturally so who cares?
Does it make the sound you want, and does it get there easily (and stay there)? That's what matters most to me anyway.

The13" snare also sounds really nice--a LOT better than what I imagined.
I would have no problem taking one of the out on a gig at all.

Didn't know this.....glad to see it.

The only thing I never liked about the Cents was that 20" deep kick. Way too much for my tastes. Maybe in 2013, when the 2011 kit finally makes it to Oz, I may just have to satisfy my Luddy fetsih that way.....beats waiting another 20 odd years for CM's

And Bonzolead....$2200 Aussie for the Cents is par for the course in these parts.

Dragster Kit £1249
Moto Kit £1299
Zep Kit £1349

Thats the price from my local dealer in the UK, translates as about;

2,020 USD
2,101 USD
2,182 USD

so yeah, talking about $2200 for the zep set

I just put down a deposit for a Zep kit and was told mid September is when it would be available. However, another dealer has also mentioned a November release date.

Can anyone confirm for sure when these kits will be available in the UK?
