Why switch from Drum to Guitar??

As others have said, I don't see the point in completely ditching one instrument for the other, unless you are completely inept at drums (like I am with a piano), or just don't like it.

When I was in high school, my friends and I would spend the weekends in my dad's shop just jamming. Then on Sunday when everyone went home, they would leave their gear at my house. I spent the weeknights teaching myself how to play guitar, and became good enough to be a passable rhythm guitarist. Learning the fretboard has helped me communicate better with my bandmates, and allowed me to understand what they're talking about when they're working out a song. Learning the guitar is a huge asset for a drummer in my opinion, so I say add to, don't take away.

Yes. They are easier to take on the road.
