Default Philly Joe Jones - Locomotion Intro and Solo on Blue Train

Has anyone here ever played this? If so, I'm currently working through this and would love to have your input(s) on sticking.

I'm using traditional PJJ stickings on most of it and intentionally thinking "Wilcoxon" as I know that's where he derived much of his source from.

Anyways, thought I'd put it out there to see.

Thanks for reminding me about this one, dmacc. I hadn't listened to it in a long time; what a great tune.

I'm afraid I don't have the answer on the stickings. The truth is, I've listened a lot more to Philly than watched him. I know the sound of his style well but I've always interpreted my own stickings for lack of a way to really watch him over the years. I have caught a few YouTube clips in recent years since stuff has surfaced but I'm not an authority.

I did find a transcription of this piece but it doesn't include stickings. http://www.jacobroved.com/transcript/locomotion.pdf

Thanks guys!

Thanks 8Mile for that link. I saw that one as well in my search as well as the one on this page http://www.stevekorn.com/les.html This site also has others which I'm adding to my already unrealistic pile of things I want to learn someday.

I'll post a clip of it when I'm done with it and seek out some input then. Probably not for a while yet though.
