Default Another Example of why Drummerworld is Great - and a big thank you

A few weeks ago, I posted a question about drum corp. practice pads, and Gvdadrummasum replied with a recommendation.

I went on to purchase that recommendation directly from him, which arrived today (it's an Invader pad).

A few things struck me throughout this process. Firstly, due to him being a member of this site, I sent a perfect stranger on the other side of the world $50 without a second thought. Secondly, was Gvdadrummasum's effortless generosity. He didn't spare a thought about paying more than what I sent him in total in shipping costs to get the pad to me, a perfect stranger on the other side of the world.

Essentially, had I not subsequently reimbursed him for the extortionate shipping, he was more than willing to not only send me an almost brand new, expensive piece of equipment, but to do so and still be out of pocket.

After the pad got held up in customs, Gvdadrummasum went to the post office and managed to get the status of the package updated, assuring me where it was, and that it was on its way.

Finally, the pad arrived today (after pesky customs charges were paid). Not only is the pad great and in perfect condition, Gvdadrummasum had waxed it, included a full pot of wax in the package, and enclosed a handwritten note with waxing instructions.

Frankly, I am touched at the kindness from a fellow drummer, and thrilled that this site has connected us, and that we felt we could trust each other with these things so easily.

So, a great big thanks to Gvdadrummasum, and a big thanks to Drummerworld. Let's keep this humanitarian attitude and maintain this place as the best drumming site on the web.

Pictures to follow :)

Absolutely, Drummerworld is the place to be and the best drumming site bare none, I have too enjoyed the generosity and friendship through Andy (keep it simple) and I am so grateful and honoured by such kindness, I have made and "met" great friends on this forum.

Anthony, you rock man!!!

Mighty_Joker, enjoy the pad, the wax, the practice and the forum, drumming and Drummerworld rules!!!

Awesome story.

What is a drum corp practice pad? And why do you have to wax it?

Good stuff all round guys, & remember, "what goes around, comes around". I've made some great contacts via Drummerworld. Some I've met, others I've yet to meet, some I've helped, others have helped me. It really doesn't get any better than that.

I was asking which pads the drum corp. snare drummers used, and got a specific recommendation. As to the waxing, it was new to me seeing it this morning, so I'll let someone else answer that one.

+1 brazillion!
DW is a very cool place and perpetuates the "do unto others" mantra. I have had many successful dealings here and the membership is top notch.
Well Done GV!

I have traded cymbals with three different drummers on this site by shipping them blindly, and hoping for their trade in return. All three with no hitches. I'm sure they wondered about mine as well..I think this is the way the world should work and I am happy to say that three others are in the same club as Gvdadrummasum and it indeed is what makes this a great place. Maybe some clue as to why I spend so much time here. Congrats to all for your honesty and integrity

wow Jon

that was amazingly touching

I was glad to do it for a fellow drummer, fellow board member, and an all around good guy

it was important to me for you to have the pad you desired

so glad it finally got there and that you are enjoying it

Drummerworld to me is a family

....and a great place

it is an Offworld Invader V3 Corps. pad

specifically engineered to emulate a kevlar drum head and is made of a synthetic playing surface.... a material they call "Dark Matter"...u substance that requires waxing about once a month with a type of Turtle Wax to assure that it lasts a lifetime

Great "Kudos" story and I hope this inspires some more to come out.

They helps to offset some of the not-so-pleasant threads that occur on that rare occasion.

Well done to both of you!

Another example of why this site and it's members are so amazing. I've had similar experiences from a couple of members myself. I hope to be able to pay it forward someday.

Great story of drummers/people helping each other out. Way to go. I too have traded cymbals with another member of DW and the experience was good. DW is great forum to be a part of!

Since typing with two fingers is probably a slow way to type, we promise to read slowly so as to not make you feel uneasy. Type on brother.
