Default Some quick advice, please ...

Apologies in advance for asking for rush advice, but I happened on a mid-Seventies Pearl 9-ply mahogany, fiberglass-lined kit for a good price and need some opinions.

The stand hardware is gone. No pedals etc. from the original kit. The shells are near mint and no extra holes drilled. They were professionally rewrapped and all appear near perfect. All badging and blowholes are intact.

The sizes are 24"; 12", 13", 14", 16" and 18". Also there's no snare with the deal. The 16" has replacement hoops, but the rest are original.

In sum, fellow drummers, is this set worth 625 bucks?

Best,

doceye

I'd pass on it. That sounds like a major hardware investment you'd have to make in order for it to become functional.

Off the top of my head, $500-$600 is fair for getting that many drums.

But it's not exactly a collectors kit, which could make re-selling it at a later date an issue. And if you don't already have the stands and pedals, etc, that could add up to buy all of that.

The main question is, do you want a drum set with those sizes?
Does it sound good? In a color you like? Is this the kind of drum set you've been looking for?

You could probably get a much newer, better quality kit for not much more money, but it may not have as many toms.

I would pass on something like that...you can get a decent kit these days for that price and probably find a better deal used on ebay with hardware.

Thanks everyone for your opinions.

I decided to pass on the purchase.
