Default Satellite Dish Anyone?

I have a disused satellite internet dish behind the house. I got curious and decided to see what it sounded like. To my surprise, it had a lot of sound versatility! It sounded like banging on a piece of metal, but it had a lot of different nice sounds that it could produce! It's still behind the house, though; haven't figured out how to mount it inside. Anyone else tried out a satellite dish?

(On a somewhat unrelated subject, does anyone here use a locomotive bell in their kit? Just an odd curiosity.)

You know your a drummer if.......
You tap and bang on stuff just to see how it sounds.

Hey, I would give it a try. Take it apart, drill a hole in the center. Mount it on a cymbal stand and see how it sounds.

Two holes in the edge, make a pipe frame, and hang it like a gong!

Also how big is this? And is it the whole assembly-thing, or just the metal dish part?

It's the mark of a drummer. Hahaha

That could work! It's about three feet wide by somewhere between a foot and a foot and a half tall. It's the whole "assembly-thing" without the receiver on the end of the arm.

Hmmm, you're right. They might not like me beating the crap out of a metallic plate. Wait a minute... I already do that! lol

I've used satellite dishes in the past with Street Drum Corps. I got away from them because they just didn't last long. I'd have that thing cracked and destroyed inside of 4 weeks :(

If you make a mistake in a song, you can use it as an excuse. "Sorry, I lost signal".

I'm a Bonham fan, so I go with one of these.

Ditto! We bought my wife's parent's property up north - came with the old-style 8 foot diameter round aluminum (aluminium?) dish. I recycled the mounting hardware, dug up the post and tossed the dish in the woods behind the house. Rabbits live under it in the winter!

I've always wanted to mount it upside-down on a post, paint it like a toadstool (mushroom) and park a bench under it. Now it looks like it's going to be a Bonzo Gong! ;-)

With a load of disco ball type mirrors, that would make one hell of a parabolic heat ray machine.

... a dish would work well if you're playing space music.
