Default Fun Doobie Brothers Song To Play

I normally play to classic rock and lately have been queuing up some old-school Doobie Brothers. A favorite of mine to play is Rio which is on the Takin' It To The Streets album.

Check it out, lots of interesting stuff going on in that tune. Must have played it 15 times in the past week or so.

That's Tiny Hartman on drums. He graduated from my high school. I didn't know him, but I knew his brother pretty well. There was an old set of drums stacked in the basement that were his. His younger brother had absolutely no interest in them.

Yea man good stuff. Our cover band plays Long Train Running almost at every gig. Crowd pleaser.

Huge, huge fan of The Doob's. Despite it being the Michael McDonald Years, there is some fun tune's to play during that era. Rio is good. Give Takin it to the Streets a whirl.

I highly suggest checking out the Southbound album. I thought it was going to be a train wreck hooking up with country artists, but I find it one of my most played albums today. Hard to believe but some songs have even more energy and some of the drum parts are better than the original, IMO.

Cool, I'll definitely pick that up. Funny thing, just looked on Amazon and can buy a new CD at $5.45 or pay $9.99 for the download. I may be weird although will usually buy the CD if possible and sample my own tracks for the iPod. The CD's normally have superior audio quality.

Yeah, Takin' It To The Streets is a cool tune to play as well. With the Doobies, I'll play to anything with an interesting beat. One of my favorite bands with a distinctive sound.

And many of the Doobie tunes you have to figure out the dual drummer breakdown. But generally, when I practice to their songs, I just flesh out the core playing.

I like "China Grove." Peace and goodwill.

"Jesus I Just Alright" is a kick-ass song.

My all time favorite is "Cheat the Hangman." The harmonies on that are outstanding. Those guys really were capable of pulling quite a few musical styles off convincingly.

The last 1:20 seconds of "Another Park, Another Sunday".

3:00 - 4:20

In my mind one of the greatest 1:20 seconds in tight music history. Magnificent dual-drumming by Hossack, and Hartman, and Tiran Porter leading the way with bass bliss.

Have a listen………… and make sure it's LOUD !!
