Thats probably it. Pushy parents living there lives through there kids. I am not American so I tend to let the kids do there thing regardless, as long as its not destructive I hasten to add. All I wish for my kids is that they are healthy and happy.
It smacks, a bit, of those Asian violin prodigy kids, pushed by there parents to practice for hour after hour.
Childhood is for being a child, not locking yourself in a practice room for hours on end, there is all the time in the world to become an obsessive.
