Short Stack Toms and Black Chrome

Basically, I'd like to know how the black chrome and Onyx heads are with short stack toms, I'm talking stuff like the Tama Super Star Hyperdrives, which have rack toms of 10x6.5 and 12x7. Considering buying a set for my Hyperdrives, but I don't know if they'll sound horrid or not due to their muffling nature with short toms.

Best way to find out is to buy one head for whichever tom is your favorite and try it. Ebony heads tend to have a darker tone to them due to the black mylar.

They shouldn't be drastically more muffled than a coated G2 or what have you. Hyper-Drive depths are still fairly reasonable tom sizes IMO- it's only in the <6" depth range where toms (in the 8-13" diameter range) start becoming less viable as typical toms.
