My personal selections.
- Life on Planet Groove (Maceo Parker, Don't know who's the drummer)

This album is one of my favourites....at least the first two songs of it. The drummer is Kenwood Dennard, one of my all time idols with regards to drumming. He played with Jaco for stuff sake! I'm told he is a teacher at Berklee, which makes sense as the guy is unbelievable as far as I'm concerned.

Hmmm, this one is a little tougher.

The Who - Live at Leeds
Deep Purple - Made in Japan
Genesis - Three Sides Live
Pink Floyd - Delicate Sound of Thunder
Allman Brothers - Live at The Fillmore East
Grateful Dead - Europe '72
Johnny Cash - At Folsom Prison
The Clash - Live at Shea Stadium
KISS - Alive
Queen - Live Killers

I don't listen to a lot of live albums, but Porcupine Tree's Octane Twisted is fantastic. Gavin Harrison's grooves on I Drive the Hearse are even better than the studio version.

1) Live at Leeds - The Who - Keith Moon

2) Captured - Journey - Steve Smith

3) Exit Stage Left - Rush - Neil Peart

4) Sing - Bring on the Night - Omar Hakim

5) Under a Blood Red Sky - U2 - Larry Mullen Jr

6) Live Consternation - Katatonia - Daniel Liljekvist

7) Still Life - Fates Warning - Mark Zonder

8) Operation Livecrime - Queensryche - Scott Rockenfield

9) Just Say Ozzy - Ozzy Osbourne - Randy Castillo

10) The Kids are Alright - The Who - Keith Moon

Thanks for letting me know. and I agree with your opinion, but the last track of that album(soul power), I think it is fantastic either!

Here are a few I have been digging lately:

Dave Weckl live and very plugged in

The Killers live at Royal Albert Hall (Ronnie Vannucci kills it)

Favorites, not best, in no particular order

Elvin Jones - "Live at the Village Vanguard"
Led Zeppelin - "How the West Was Won" (John Bonham)
Allman Brothers - "Live at Fillmore East" (Jamoie Johanson & Butch Trucks(
The Jimi Hendrix Experience - "Live at Monterey" (Mitch Mitchell)
Weather Report - "Live and Unreleased" (Chester Thompson, Omar Hakim, & Peter Erskine)
Miles Davis - "Live eviL" (Jack DeJohnette)
The Roots - "Come Alive" (Questlove)
Charles Mingus - "At Carnegie Hall" (Dannie Richmond)
Fela Kuti - "Live!" (Ginger Baker & Tony Allen)
Jeff Beck - "This Weekend at Ronnie Scott's" (Vinnie Colaiuta)

Honorable Mention:
Derek and the Dominos - "Live at the Fillmore" or "In Concert" (Jim Gordon)

Awesome to see some love for Umphrey's on here. Great band.

They are terrific. I actually meant that post to go in the top 10 albums thread, but it got moved here.

Saw Umphrey's McGee at the Pines Theatre in western MA in 2006, went and bought their albums soon after. Kris Myer's drumming is terrific all-around, versatile to say the least.

In no order, and adding to what some others have already listed...

Chuck Mangione Live at the Hollywood Bowl - James Bradley Jr.
The Blues Brothers Briefcase Full of Blues - Steve Jordan
Frank Zappa's Halloween, Buffalo, and Tinsel Town Rebellion - Vinnie Colaiuta
Steely Dan Alive in America - Dennis Chambers
The Who Join Together - Simon Phillips
Tower of Power Live and in Living Color - David Garibaldi

My all time favourite live drumming album is Atlanta by Porcupine Tree. Gavin just makes every song sound so much groovier...

As for others, I enjoy the Dream Theater and Transatlantic live releases, since Portnoy always plays the song a little bit differently each time.

Led Zeppelin - live at the bbc

Bonhams playing on since I've been loving you is one of the greatest examples of just how great he was.
