Hey guys, I'm new to this forum. Thought I would post a few photos of my Mapex Saturn, Transparent Walnut Lacquer. Enjoy!

Hot. I love the finishes on the Saturns! Mine are Transparent Cherry Burst.

Looks really good although I must admit that Sticks4drums (remember him?) has got me thinking that its nice to have a little more wood showing and less hardware. Drums look great but want to see more.

Love my xs20s too.

Really nice finish. And the fish in that tank must have drain bramage.

I do have photos from when I first got it without lots of hardware, I will post some photos of them. The snare is really nice, it sounds amazing at any tuning from low to high, it also has an amazing impact if it's hit hard, and is extremely sensitive when hit not so hard! Although I'm thinking of buying a 14" snare for my main, I will definitely be using this for my auxiliary snare.

The drums are gorgeous but I'm not to sure about the TV antenna look with the cymbals. Maybe a few more clamps and get the splashes in front rather than hanging out like that. Just my opinion.

Personally, I really love the look of the splashes on those booms. It's all a bit high for my personal taste, but I love that it looks more like a work of art as opposed to purely functional. Using hardware to make drum sculptures rocks!!!!

I agree, Mike Mangini proves it all as well, you can make your kit look like a piece of art out of hardware, which is great, and using your imagination, you can actually create a unique build! ...I'm actually a tall person, so that's maybe why my cymbals seem high :D

I totally accept your opinion, I see what you mean by the TV antenna look, I never really thought of it that way, and I guess I just done this because I didn't have enough money at the time to buy extra clamps :)

The drums look really nice.

I'm another one that prefers a simpler setup, and don't really care for racks. But that's just me - to each their own.

BTW - the drums look really nice. Ha ha.

It sounds great! Toms are really responsive and are great tune and you can get the tuning you are looking for! The bass drum is out of this world, I like to have the batter side finger tight, and the resonant skin with two full turns on the key, and it sounds amazing, lots of punch!

I'm surprised I haven't seen Sticks post here yet, normally if him or Saturns are mentioned he's posted within a few hours :P

I can't remember the exact thread, but I guess just a continuation of his antagonizing attitude and regular outbursts whenever someone said something that wasn't perfectly in line with his own opinions. I kind of wish he was still here so I could tell him to wear a Stormtrooper costume while drumming so he matched his kit.
