My Brief Fking With Pearl...

...has come to an end.

Some of you may remember last winter where I was about to consumate a deal on a five piece DW classic one up two down 22,12,14,16,14 that fell through when my darling wife put her foot down.

They looked like this.

I traded my Pearls and the DW tiger ash kit for these.

I am going to play the 22, 12, 14 combo as it sounds massive. I am also going to see if one of the techno wizzards that I play with can figure out a way to record and download some of our stuff. I am anxiouse to hear how I sound, and how the drums fit in the overall mix.

...thanks groove.

I am doing a little house cleaning. I have to return an export kit that I had briefly inherited. Most of it is at my younger brothers house, so I am going to replace them with my franken kit. That way I clear another couple of rows on my drum wall. They will be replaced with my books, CDs, and pictures. I might move my computer in there seeing as winter aproaches and what better lair to hibernate in than my man room.

PS.

I could not edit the title to this thread. It was supposed to read "My Brief Fling With Pearl".

oh well it seems to have gotten people looking at it :p

Beautiful kit Baz, love that finish. How do you like the Classics shells? How do they compare to the Collector's shells?

These shells are a lot heavier and thicker than the collectors. Sound wise, these drums have all the warmth and boominess that the collecters have, but they also have a punch, and attack that the thinner shelled collecters lack.

This 22, 14, 12 combo has plenty of punch, and I like it as a counterpoint to the big boomy old familiars.

How are your new dubs.

Congrats on the classics Baz! I've heard that these and the jazz series are the best drums that DW are putting out right now.

...thanks Mendozart.

These drums present a little bit of a problem. I like the 22, 14, 12 combo, but that leaves me with a stray 16. My inclination is to pick up a matching 24" bass drum, and a 13" rack tom, and pair them up with my edge snare.

I am probably going to sell another couple of kits to subsidize the next in lines.

Yeah they're going really well. Been setting them up 1 up 2 down lately. Did a recording session last week with them and they performed really well.

...post some pictures if you don't mind.

I need a good dose of DW porn.

Sweeeeet, I'm glad you finally got your D Dub classics, It seems no one else has them, and I wanted to hear some impressions.

And it's funny how "Fking" still works as a title, ha!
