Can't go wrong with coated single or double ply head on top (Remo Ambassador and Emperor, Evans G1 and G2) and clear single ply on bottom.

Power Center, ST, HD Dry... list goes on. Check out those snare heads.

EMAD for low kick. EMAD2 for even lower. I like the EQ4 - it's nice! Remo has Powerstroke.

:)

What type of music do you play and what make of kit do you use?

The most common all around head set up for toms is 2 ply clear heads such as Remo Emperor or Evans G2 for the batter side, and single ply clear heads such as Remo Ambassador or Evans G1 for the resonant side.

Most common snare set up is a coated Remo Ambassador or coated Evans G1 batter and a 3 mil clear snare side resonant head.

There are hundreds of choices when it comes to heads.
I use different heads on each kit that I own for different reasons.

Personally, I've been hooked on the Evans G Plus and G14 for all of my tom batter needs. The versatility of these single-ply heads is great (plus they're quite durable). Before I changed over to these, I had coated G2 heads on all of the toms and was very happy with them- a bit more attack but still plenty of sustain.
