Default Looking for a bell

I have an idea that I want a bell. Not a zil bell or it's ilk. An actual bell like the christmas bell choirs use (preferably on the lower end of the spectrum). I am having a hard time finding them. Any ideas? (we had a music store that might have them, but I last was in there 25 years ago and forgot the name).

Might be hard to find a church-type bell with a clapper... depends on the size you're looking for really. Keep in mind, the bigger, the heavier, and you'll need to rig up a stand for it, and make sure that any drum riser can support the weight.

Another cheaper and economical option would be to use a tubular bell. Similar sound, smaller, lighter.

Worth looking into. The weight should not be a problem. I was wanting a larg-ish hand bell, but your idea might be better.

I remember Brendan Canty with fugazi used a bell when I saw them back in 1995 in Lincoln, NE. Here is the picute of his "ship's bell." Sorry the pic doesn't really include him.
