Pete, I don't think I'll call but there's always email/ebay offers, thanks very much for that. How are you liking them btw?

The price range that I showed was based on a USA Google and Amazon search.
Deals pop up from time to time. I bought my Saturn Manhattan shell pack with snare in Jan for $1050 on Amazon. The Manhattan is discontinued for 2012. It is best to call sellers and make your deal over the phone. As you know you will be subject to shipping fees and fees from your country if you import a kit.

I see that the Saturn Jazz sells for around $4000 AUD.
I have learned from Australian friends that It isn't easy to import a new kit into OZ. The cheapest "buy it now" price on USA eBay is from The Drummer Superstore. It is around $1600. The 8" tom list for $234. If you got The Superstore to give you a deal you would be at about $1700 USD. The Superstore is the highest volume Mapex dealer in the USA. The $1200 that you saw on eBay is a "Current Bidding" price. That seller will not ship international. The pricing range that I quoted you in my first post was accurate.

Which Saturn Jazz kit did you buy?
I could only find The Superstore as having the kit that you were looking for listed as an international shipper on eBay this morning. They only had one kit listed. There were only three Saturn Jazz kits with snare listed on USA eBay. Two would not ship international. What fees will you encounter to get the kit there?

Exact specs minus the 8x7 tom, in galaxy burst, was listed on ebay at 1200, it's a floor model. It had no reserve so I low balled.
They're going to add the 8x7 at that same price you mentioned + 35 for the tom arm and sneak it into the box so all up everything I asked for in my post came to 900 + 234+35 = $1,169 US. I'm a bit overwhelmed... after looking at pictures of them all night I had settled on arctic white with chrome hardware but this was previously my chosen finish and I'm sure it's sexy in person. I really wasn't expecting them to accept. What trouble did your friends from OZ have?

You've gonna love those drums. I've always liked/respected the Saturn line. With the walnut interior ply's, they simply bring something to the table that no one else does .... at least on a grand scale. Without the walnut, they'd just be "another" maple shelled drum. Someday, I might even "own" a set .... though I said I'd stop at 7.

Interesting, that kit never showed up in my search on USA eBay.
I searched Mapex Saturn Jazz. What are the shipping costs and other costs to get it to OZ? It is expensive to import a kit into OZ.

Yeah, it only showed up when I typed in 'mapex saturn 20', you won't find it now :)
Shipping will be 399, and there is a 10% import tax for items over $1,000 but there are ways around it (e.g splitting up the order). I don't even have to cheat because I will buy the 8" tom separately. Thanks Harry, I can't wait to set them up next to my sonors, and I'm really interested to see how the 20" goes. I bought this kit for gigs primarily, so I'll get some quality cases for them. I'm just going to use my old sonor hardware with it. It's 3am and I can hardly think. I'm going to bed a happy man. :)

I hate when sellers aren't savvy enough to call things by their proper name.
It makes a person spend much extra time searching the pages of eBay. Even if they had listed it as "Mapex Saturn Jazz with 20" bass" That would have covered all of the search criteria. That probably worked in your favor because many others didn't see the item because of the listing title. That is a good deal for you. Even with the fees you are way under the OZ price of $4000. Enjoy the kit!
