Default New Mapex kit - unboxing pics

I've been lusting after this kit since last summer, so much in fact that I refinished my cheap old Pearl set in a similar color. Now I've finally got the real thing! Again, these pictures do not do this drum set much justice, it looks absolutely fantastic in person. The finish and hardware is top notch quality. Here are some pics...

Safely arrived...

Opening box 1...

Opening box 2...

Opening box 3...

DVD...

Specs...

There she is...

I need to leave for work, will post the rest later :)

They packed your Meridian kit better than they packed my Saturn kit.

I'm not really liking the buff brown finish, & the yellow banding detail looks a bit cheap too. Unusual sizes :) :) :)

It's the 'warehouse satin' finish with limited edition 'industrial detailing', actually.

It's not listed on the Mapex website.

You are now forgiven!

Looks amazing - that finish is subtle but striking all at once!

Have you started breaking them in yet?

*EDIT* - Also - sizes/specs please!

Congrats man! Love the color too. I have the same kit but in Cobalt Burst and recently replaced the heads to Evans G2 coated and it has made an amazing difference in sound, IMO. You are going to love this kit! I also had my local drum shop (Drums2Go) improve the snare bed on the snare and it made a drastic improvement! If your in the Orlando, FL area, they will do this for free.

My favorite posts. the unboxing. So let me guess...22, 10, 12, 14, 16? And doesn't that new wood smell great. I'm thinking new drum smell candles for that year round treat. Great looking Natural Wood set Big Al. Congrats

I like that... I will send a suggestion to Yankee Candle.
Every time I remove the heads from my drums I savor the aromatic bouquet of fine Maple.
Its like being in Vermont during Maple Syrup making season.
It doesn't get any better than that.

Actually the walnut smells like dirty feet, :)
I was speaking of my all maple kit.
Soon I will have the smell of new cherry in my studio.
