Default Electronic Drum Pad Assistance????

I have 28 years experience drumming but zero years with electronic drumming. I am interested in playing to loops/percussion sounds while practicing as opposed to my boring TAMA Metronome. Any suggestions on what might be a good useful Alesis/Roland product to assist me. Sample Pad/PercPad/SPD-30???? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. THANKS, Marc

I have the same questions and was also hoping some persons in the know would have the time for this discussion.

Use something like Garage Band and turn on any of their loops. You can also just download loops for free usually by googling them. If you have iTunes, you can then make a playlist of the loops. You don't need an electronic drum pad to play along to loops.

However, if you are talking about integrating loop-based sounds by triggering, then yes you do need a drum pad.
