The DW beaters are very heavy. I like the Yamaha felt beaters myself. The Pearl quad beater is a nice medium weight beater. The Iron Cobra beaters are popular, but they are a little light for my taste.

I used the DW beaters for about 20 years and I am very accustomed to them. I put the heavy weights in my new Falcon pedals, which made the beaters the same weight. They give the bass a nice thump. My buddy got some new Tama pedals, and the beaters are way too light for me.

I liked the DW beaters on my Axis pedal, but I prefer the Pearl 4-way better the most.

I use several different beaters on my 5000 pedal and two of them are the Tama beaters. I use a DS30 which is a duo sided beater and it's the heaviest of the two and the other beater is a CB90F. I also sometimes use a "powder puff" beater for different genres. I really don't care for the DW beaters because of their heavier weight.

The first thing I did when I purchased my DW5000 pedal 10+ years ago was to replace the beater with a Yamaha felt.

after playing the dw beaters for 20 years I switched to a yamaha round felt beater. Definitely improved the feel of the pedal for me.

The Gibraltar self aligning beater is a nice option. I find it to be a middle weight beater that give a nice sound.

I have landed on the Tama dual sided from the older cobras, they are a great weight for my 5000 double pedal.

I totally recammend the DW hardcore beaters, they are pricey, but very versitle and last very long. Those are my favorite.
