Default Carrying Splash Cymbals

Ok guys, so say you only have 1 cymbal bag, and all of your crashes, rides, hihats, etc. are in it, but if you have some splashes, what do you do?

I have 3, will probably get a 4th. I know stacking them together and putting a soft cloth in between is a very good idea, but as for casing, what do you guys recommend?

Thanks!

I don't carry my splash around very often, but when I do, I take it in the snare bag, on top of the batter head of the snare itself.

I find it more dangerous to put it with the big cymbals, I feel it's going to get crushed.

Cheers!

In with a tom or snare on the batter head always worked for me.

I stack all my cymbals together from largest to smallest with a piece of billiard table cloth between them then put my chineese on the end and bolt them all together with a teflon bolt so it cant hurt the cymbals then slide the whole works into my padded bag. Listed in order: 20" aax ride, 18" hh crash ride, 17" aa crash, 16' aax crash, 16' aax crash, 12" aa splash, 10" aa splash, 19" aax chineese and the 2 - 14 aax hats go in the seperate hat pocket on the front of the sabian padded bag.

Hi, I have an XKB cymbal case and I stack my regular cymbals in there. For my 2 splashes I have another small wingnut and screw with 2 felts. Then I just tuck them into the same case. Works great.

That's one of the limitations of cymbal bags - there are many sizes and few pockets. Stuff will not often line up well.

I'm thinking about just buying another cymbal bag with a side pocket (I'll be buying 2 chinas soon so I need the spare bag), and just stack my splashes in the hi-hat section and separate them with a soft cloth. Good idea?

Both of my cymbal bags have side pockets for hats and smaller cymbals. I couch my splashes between my hi-hat cymbals, and they tend to stay put.

Another option is to take the bag to a local tailor or bag maker. They can put in custom pockets at a reasonable cost.

I use a hardcase with a spindle so everything always fits.

If the bag has an outside pocket (Sabian) I use that. Otherwise I put it in a hard case or snare case.
