Default Thrash Metal

Alright so i'm basically after decent sounding snare and tom heads, batter and resonant. My band has a Pantera/Evile/Slayer sound
Any suggestions? Cheers

Would be nice to know what drums you are working with, but I'll take a stab at it.

Anything 2 ply for the batter. G2, Emperor, Response 2. If you want less sustain, EC2, Performance 2, Pinstripes.

As far as resonant heads, the standard single ply will do. G1, Ambassador, Classic Clear, etc.

I like the Remo coated Sound Control with dot for the snare. Evans Hay 300 reso.

+1 on the coated Controlled Sound for the snare. It really has a focused,short,non-ringy sound. No wonder it`s called "controlled", lol.
Also scarlit`s tom configuration would do. I use Emperors with the stock 1-ply heads and the toms just go MOOO!!
If you`re playing double bass, and i assume you do, you want a short and boomy sound, so you could use a Pinstripe, EMAD or even a Powersonic, althrough i have never heard any of these so I cannot give you any clue how much sustain it has.
Don`t forget, it`s mostly in the tuning. Try and see what sounds good and what not.

I honestly don't feel the head combination matters as much, I'd with any 2-ply coated for the toms. The tuning of those will be up to you, but with the right heads, tuning high will help you cut through the mix.

As for the bass, keep that reso loose and the batter real tight.

And, the snare..crank that 'ish - you want a nice POP when you slam down on it.

Ah right cheers guys.
So basically almost any 2 ply heads for the batter toms tuned slightly low & 1 ply for reso, snare tightened a little bit?

I also went with Remo SC Dot Snare & Evans Hazy 300 for reso.
