Default Yamaha Akira Jimbo Limited Edition Snare Drum

Do any of you folks know anything about this drum? It's different from the current Akira Jimbo- gold lugs and cast hoops. Any information is appreciated.

News to me. What size is that thing? Is it mega deep or is it just a small diameter?

I'm assuming the only major difference between this drum and his other is that it has the Maple Custom lugs and die-cast hoops.

If it's not 13x7 with a Beech shell, I'd be surprised.

Yea...based on the drum badge stating "MSD"...it may be a maple snare....also the number being "102" this is a very early (production) drum...

It was the first limited run of Akira Jimbo's signature snares. It is maple with die cast hoops. If you sell it, lemme know. Will match my Polar White PHX ;)

its not the signature model. its the first limited edition design Yamaha came out w/ for AJ from the early 90's (circa '92). 13"x7" 7ply maple shell -- not beech like the current regular production signature model. it did come w/ diecast hoops and gold plated Maple Custom lugs.

i snagged one off eBay a month or so ago for $500 which is a little more than i normally am willing to spend on a snare drum but...i had a feeling about it. i just got it dialed in w/ wood hoops, FatCat wires and a Evans Genera HD. i do not regret it even a little bit...worth every cent.

Those drum looks awesome with its gold lugs and die cast hoops.

This has inspired me to get die cast hoops for my beech model.

Hopefully I can get hold of some.
