Default best remo heads

Hey Guitar Center's got a great deal on remo heads right now, and I defenatley could use a new head. Which is the best for my snare? Its a 12" that I use for jazz and pep band at school, I want a full lush sound when using brushes, and a full sound with the stick, with out a long sustain. The other drummers at my school rather heavy hitters though, so I need some thing dureble. What suggestions do you have?

Is this a national deal? I think I heard something about it on the radio. 60% off heads? Can you confirm? I'm not the one to ask about heads.

Coated 2 ply head, like an Emperor or even a Pinstripe if you really want to cut out the overtones.

So I asked my percussion instructor, and he said to get the Ambassador head, so I got the Ambassador X coated, as its thicker than the original.

Ambassador is a great head too. Just like an Emp only single ply.

You originally said that you have heavy hitters using it, so wanted added durability and also didn't want a lot of sustain......hence the Emperor, which is 2 ply and slightly more focused than a single ply head.

Both good choices either way.

My question is how you expect a full sound with a 12" snare? Those are good for crackin'. Not my first choice if I'm looking for 'lush'. You don't have a 14" snare? The other players wouldn't have to hit so hard if the drum was a bit bigger - you guys are defeating yourselves.
