Default MXL 990/991 Recording Microphone Package

Do you guys think this deal is worth investing in? I'm looking for a way to record a demo at home with my band and this deal popped up on the Musician's Friend website. Take a look and let me know what you think (see link below). it offers a MXL 990/991 Recording Microphone Package for $69.95, as opposed to the $299.99 MSRP pricing.

I'd jump on it. A friend of mine has some MXL microphones and they do sound quite nice. If you get them and don't hear anything when you just plug them in, at least that's half the worry gone right there. You can always return them if you don't like them.

It's not a bad little setup to begin with. The 990s is a decent vocal mic and the 991 works well on acoustic guitars and is ok on hihats or as an overhead drum mic. I used to have two of these setups (I caught them on sale for $50). I turned around and sold them for $60, so not a bad deal.

Plus is, you won't lose money on them unless you beat them to crap and back.

Remember, phantom power on...my buddy thought his mics were all broken until I had to explain the magic of +48v electricity to him...guitarists.
