Default Would I notice a change in tone if I went from Evans ST coated to a G2 coated for my SNARE?

I currently have an Evans ST coated batter on my DW Collector's 5.5 x 14 maple snare.
While the tone is acceptable to me, I was hoping to get a less controlled - more open, brighter tone.

I just happenned to have a few extra coated G2's laying around that I was going to use for my floor tom later. Does anyone know how the tone will change if I stick on the G2's?

Thanks!

The G2 should be a little more open and of course a G1 even more so.

That makes sense, based on the 7 mil vs 7.5 ml thickness.
I compared the 2 sound clips on the Evans website (cool site) and the ST definitely stood out with more "ring" to it.

Couldn't quite tell on the tone (brightness, etc). Crappy laptop speakers I guess.
