Default Re: Flaking on Coated Emporer Heads

I used to use the coated remo heads when they were almost the only option at the time. Yeah, the coating used to flake off like that very fast.

I am using Aquarian on my snare and the coating is just dirty and did not flake off at all.

I have not used the coated remo in a long time. Unfortunately, I just bought a new kit and they came with remo clear heads, that I will be throwing in the trash soon and replacing them with the Aquarians.

I've had a coated CS on my snare for almost a year now and there is no chipping. I bought an Evans Powercenter reverse dot and not only did I not really dig the sound of it but the coating chipped right away.

I'm looking to get some coated Emps soon. I can't wait, it will be my first coated tom head purchase.

Or should I go smooth white?

Coated! Much warmer with not as much attack. Attack is good, just smooth is TOO much!

Try a new coated CS on your snare now it won't last 20 mintues. Remo's new coating formula sucks. I send every head right back to them until they get on top of the issue. Remo stands behind their products 100% so I have no problem returning them for new ones time after time.
