Default Pearl h2000 eliminator hi-hat

Hey fellow drummers, I need a little insight. I recently got my hands on a pearl h2000 eliminator hi-hat and I love it, big, bulky and stable. However great the rod keeps spinning in the shaft, All other hi-hats I've dealt they with spin and then lock into position, this one keeps spinning. Is this normal, I heard that it is but is it really?
Any advice or someone who has used this hat please let me know.
Cheers!

I have the same stand and it does it too. It's normal to a degree. It is a lubricated round rod that's free to move around, after all.

just does not sound right to me, however if it is not rattling and adding "noise" to the play then I guess no worries. Just not familiar with this issue, but would love an answer too. I'll shut up now...LOL

Cool thanks, ya I had heard it's supposed to, just trying to understand its reasoning.
Thanks

I don't know if it's supposed to be like that, but it can be fixed with needlenose pliers and a bit of fiddling at the base of the hihat rod. I can't remember off the top of my head exactly how I did it, but I managed to stop it constantly turning. It wasn't so much an annoyance when I played, but when trying to dismantle it, it was absolute hell to try and separate the two parts of the rod when it kept spinning around as I tried to loosen it.

I'll see if I can dig up the recipe somewhere

I have used the H2000 for some years now and had this same problem. It drove me nuts when dismantling at the end of a long night. The solution when I found it was quite simple.

Where the very bottom of the rod screws in around the pedal assembly there is in fact a small hex screw on the side of the receiving nut. Tighten this up and your problem is solved as it locks into the shaft. I discovered this a year or so ago and now my pedal does not drop to the deck due to the rod detaching at the wrong point.

Check out this diagram

The small hex screw is part 4-b on section I of the diagram

I love the H2000 but wish it was not such a job to disassemble.

Hope this helps guys

Or it may have been the small hex screw at the base of section D on that diagram, either way if you make sure both are secure then your problem should be solved :)
