It actually didn't take any time at all. I contacted a drum shop to get a quote on the exact kit and they replied with a picture of it letting me know it was in their store. They're just holding it for me until I get back from vacation. :D

After a couple of months of back and forth between the devil on my left and the Angel on my right, they finaly came to an agreement, as did the store and myself.

The drums are 18, 14, 12. I did not bother with the snare as I already have a couple of spares.

From my initial setup and noodling, these drums are going to take some getting used to. My Classics are so big, warm and boomy, while these Jazz drums are a little on the poonky side. I knew that about them, and wanted them for that contrast. I just have to find the head and tuning combo that makes me smile every time I hit them.

Barry

I had Remo Coated Ambassadors on my DW Jazz kit in the same configuration as yours and switched out the tom heads top and bottom to Evans J1 etched and the bass drum better to an Evans Emad Coated 1 ply batter and the kit's sound is just perfect now.The J1's are very warm but still very resonant and the coated EMAD is perfect for this drum.I still use a full coated front head on the bass drum with nothing inside. Perfect tone and just the right combination of articulation and boom.

Is it a silver sparkle wrap?.

I ask because I know where there is a "new, old stock" 4pc DW from 2005 in silver sparkle wrap for $1600 and I am obsessed with getting it. Cant afford it now though. :(

Gonna cry now...

It's called broken glass. Look for deals on craigslist. That is were I got them and they were less then 1600. Keep looking, you will find a great kit.

Now I'm up to 4 DW snares; just picked up this 13x5.5 bronze from another Drummerworld member.

Love the time machine snare, but don't like all those threads. I would like to see two separate lugs top and bottom. They could use the new smaller DW lugs.

I'm currently collecting dealer quotes for a DW kit!

I've been drooling over DW for at least ten years, and I'm finally in a position where I can buy one. I've played a few DW kits live (house kits or kits owned by other bands I've shared the stage with), and they've always left me wanting one.

This is what I'm collecting quotes for:

Vital statistics:
- 10x8 VLT tom
- 12x9 VLT tom
- 16x14 X floor tom
- 18x22 X kick

Finish: Twisted White Silk
Hardware: Black Nickel

Snare:
- 14x6 10+6 Collectors snare in Black Ice with Chrome hardware
I'm keeping the snare in black/chrome since I tend to bring my own snare when I play house kits, and a black snare will go with any colour kit.

Thoughts? I'm very excited right about now :-)

Pics generated by DW's kitbuilder:

Nice finish and hardware combination! Looks really classy and could fit in to many different situations.

You can get your snare in VLT or X-Shell for no extra cost as well. I have a 14x7 X and love it. Super deep pitch and big tuning range. Crank her up and she still has heaps of body, and tuned down low it's super fat.

Just a though.

I agree with the above. I would go with a VLT or X-shell on the snare. I had a 10&6 for a long time and in the last year traded that in and ended up with two VLTs; a 14x6.5 and a 14x4.5. Both are awesome and blow away my old 10&6.

I hadn't even thought about the fact that snares too are available in VLT/VLX/X. I will definitely take that into consideration :-)

What I would really love is an Edge, but I can't afford one of those as well as a new kit, so that will have to remain on my wishlist for a while longer.
