Default Some snare side reso head questions

Why are Evans hazy 300 snare side heads clear?
Do the glass reso's sound brighter than the hazy?
Has anyone used the Evans 500 weight snare side head? If so, your impressions please?
Do the 500's come in hazy and glass?

Thanks

I have been thinking about using an Evans 500 on my snare that I made with Gary's lugs. The one with the Ludwig shell.
I think that the thicker reso will allow me to crank the batter even more and get more POP out of that little sucker.

The term Hazy refers to the sound I believe.
Let's ask The Prez of Evans himself!
We can do that now. Isn't that great?
How cool is that when we can simply ask the president of one of the big three head companies a question and get a straight answer.

Using Evans' terminology the hazy snare sides aren't quite as clear as glass. As far as I know the 200 and 300 weight are only available in hazy film, and the glass only in 500.

I think the completely clear snare sides have a brighter ringing tone than hazy or opaque snare sides, and I've been very tempted to try the Evans Glass 500, so if I do I'll be sure to let you know what I think.

:)

Yes, I'm looking for a glass 500 user. And Bob, good idea, duh. I'll just ask Rick.
