Default Yamaha Yess tom Mounts

My kit has been in my gig bags for a month or so as my band had a few gigs and I was being lazy about getting it all back out and setting her up at home.

So today came the day that I decided I hadnt had a good bash for a while and got her out.

I realised my 12in swivel ball holder no longer locks in place. Every time I screw down the top locking handle thing it pops 2 of the bottom screws out of their holes!

I've checked my other two tom holders and they look to be in good shape.

Does anyone know if this is a problem with this type of holders? My kit is about 6-7 years old and I havent had any issues with them up till now( I have actually sung their praises)

I'm just really worried this will happen to my other holders and I will be tom-less!!!

Are you referring to the Yamaha tom ball mounts?...if so, I have never had a problem with them...they are pretty much an industry standard!

No problems with mine yet, but I've only had my Maple Custom Absolutes for about 1 year and a half. Wasn't there two versions of that mounting system manufacturered by Yamaha?

Yeah the ball mounts- Everytime I lock down the top turning screw 2 on the little screws underneath holding the metal that holds the ball in place get popped out-

Like the screws have been stripped- thought I've never touched them

I had the same problem and had it changed. It means that the screw wire inside is not in the right shape. Go to a Yamaha dealer and have it changed. This a long waranty problem so step up and aclaim youre "right" usualy it s the dealer that makes a problem with long warranty isues.

You can also get in toutch with Yamaha's customer support

Good luck.

Yes! I have had 4 tom arms strip & break on me...the older design never had a problem but this newer design is cheaply made..& I didn't over tighten them....I've heard this complaint from many drummers including the head drum guy at Guitar Center in West Palm Beach, Fla. Some guys have told me they have drilled out the holes through the top of the mount & put better stainless steel hardened screws in to repair them.......
