Default Feedback on upcoming head purchase

I've recently come into an late 80s/90s Tama Swingstar. I really like the kit and though it came with 10, 12, 13, and 16" toms, I've decided to only use the 10 & 16". Why? I love 10" toms and 4 piece setups, so I figured "why not?". I'm not so concerned about the pitch difference because (in my humble opinion) I think a 10-16" gap is just enough to provide pleasing contrast while maintaining some sense of continuity. What my concern is, what heads should I get?
For the bass drum, I know I'm going with a single ply Emad and a custom reso head I've ordered. The Snare will stay the same because I have no reason to replace it. What I'm thinking for the toms, though, is G2/G1. Coated, both sides. But do you think a double ply over a single ply would kill the 10"? Should I do G1/G1 on the 10" and G2/G1 on the 16"? G1/G1 on both? Or keep with my original plan? What do you guys think?

I have an 8, 10, 12, 14flr combo and I have EC2's over G1's on all.
The 10" just sings with the EC2 and it is more controlled (less open) than the G2's.
I wouldnt worry one bit about the G2 on the 10. It wont kill the sound at all IMO.

G1's on the batters are great if you want a super open tone.
I tried a G1 coated on my 13" snare thinking I wanted to open it up.
It ended up being way too open and ringy for me so I switched to a G Dry.

Considering they sing with EC2s that have built-in muffling, then I'm not worried at all about double-ply. I do like a lot of resonance, and ultimately, I want them to match up as much as possible.
I was thinking that to get the same resonance from my 10" as my 16" with G2/G1 (coated both side) I would have to do G1/G1 on my 10". I suppose not, though. Thanks!

I ran clear G2 over G1 for quite a few years on my old Swings, they sound excellent.

A 2 ply over 1 ply combination is tried and tested. It's been used by so many for so long that's there's little doubt to its effectiveness.

Haven't heard your drums, but I know I prefer a single ply batter on my 10" tom. The others sound great with Emps, but my 10" seems to resonate better with a single ply head. I've found the Emp just seems to choke it out a little too quickly.

For the price of one extra head though, it's easy enough to swap out if you're not happy with your first choice.

That's exactly what I was thinking about!
Based on the feedback, and my gut feeling, I'm going to go with coated G1/G1 on the 10" and G2/G1 on the 16".
But as said, if I don't like, it's not gonna break the bank to fix it. Ahah.

On two of my kits I've found 10" toms sound more open when they have thinner heads. If it were my kit I'd put a G1/G1 on the 10" and G2/G1 on the 16".
