I don't know if MASSIVE quite sums this one up...

How does the 28" play? and What about the 34"? Must make one hell of a gong drum...

Wow, cool.

Does having the rack tom spaced so far from the floor tom make it difficult to make fast rolls between the two?

28's rule. My favorite kick I own is a 28x16. I'm jealous of your 34!

I've always wanted a gong drum with my setup. Do you gig with these sizes? your a brave man to carry 62 inches of bass drum diameter to a gig.

One major difference. Tommy Lee doesn't actually play that bass drum.

How would it sound if he did? Can you properly tune such a drum?

Premier1011, Have you ever used the concert bass as kick drum?

hey guys. thanks for the gnarly words.
Yes, i use this kit to gig with. It looks great & unusual under the stage lights, so listeners have to take a second glance @ us.
The 28" plays great! It stays in tune alot longer than i expected it too! I just ordered a aquarian super kick II head for it. stokkkeeeedddd!!!!
I use the 34" as a floor tom and it blows my mind every time i use it. hahaa.
Neil, no. having the 12" rack tom placed there does not negatively effect my rolls. Im so use to it now, that I actually prefer it to the left (a lil more than usual) it keeps me from "over thinking" rolls & fills. Im more into the "keep it simple" and just pound away.

Bram, nahhh man. I never have used the 34" as a bass drum. Not quite sure if it would sounded good enough to play. Heads are really weird and hard to tune when its this big.

What exactly do you mean by experimental? Like on the prog side of things or psychedelic stuff? or something completely different?"

No doubt; the 28 is the shite. Took a little getting used to at first, but it's about all I use now.

Outrageous! Reminds me of one of those kits from the 1910s. What are the depths of all the drums?

If you ever need to get the kick out of your house the paramedics are going to have to cut a hole in your wall and lure it out with twinkies.
Sweet OP kit by the way. Might want to get a 2nd hugemangous floor tom for the other side. Just so the drum riser at your venue doesn't tip over.

COOL!

I used a 28 for about 10 years and I really liked playing that size.
The hauling around is what did me in with it.
I have a 16x28 and a 20x28. The 16x28 is still in working order, but the 20x28 shell...
It's seen better days, and I should have gotten it with 10 lugs instead of 12. I stripped the hardware for another drum when I wasn't using it anymore, but I just can't bring myself to get rid of it--and it's been at least 11 or 12 years since I used it!

I've thought to get an 18x28 (split the difference), but, eh, I really like my 26's these days (16x26, 18x26, 2-20x26's).

I used the 16x28 for a few gigs last year, and it was fun playing it, and it sounded cool as hell through the monitors, but it felt a little slow for what I was doing, so I went back to the 26. It sucked as much as I remembered hauling it those couple times too.
Must be getting older...

It was always fun hearing peoples reaction when the 20x28 came out of the case!
The 20x26 gets the "Holy Crap that's cool!", but the 28 really got people in other bands scared haha!
