Default Remo Powerstroke Pro Clear review

Today, I picked up a new bass drum head from the Remo line.
I was going to get a Powerstroke 4 as my old head was Powerstroke 4 and I really liked it. However, I heard people talk about the new Powerstroke Pro and there was one in stock and only 2 more. So I said why not?

So I took it home and out of the box fell two Falam Slams. I was pretty happy as my Aquarian kick pad is falling off and I needed a replacement.

The Powerstroke Pro has 3 different muffling rings built into the skin, this means you can use the skin with little muffling or none inside you're bass drum.

I put the head up, tuned it up to a medium tuning setting and played.

I was suprised, I had no muffling and you get a really dry sustain, not long. But it's as if there is muffling inside the drum. I was pretty amazed, not to mention that the head is pretty loud even when playing about a medium velocity.

I would DEFINITELY get another one of these heads, maybe Coated.
I could've got an Emad, but I decided not to and wanted to try this out and I'm please with my decision.

Durability - 10
Power - 8
Sound Quality - 9.5

Really impressed with it, check it out guys! It's pretty awesome :)

I have ordered a coated 24" powerstroke pro. They are on back order everywhere till the end of June (something to do with the Remo factory). I hope its worth the wait... Thanks for the review.

I have one, I like it. I will however try a PS3 or emperor next time just so I can get a little more tone out of my bass drum.
Christopher Walken would be pleased.

Glad you like the sound. Personally, I really dislike the Coated Powerstroke Pro on my school's Vision Maple- Coated Ambassadors for me all the way. But hey, if you like it, you like it.
