Default Changing Drum Heads

Is it neccessary to change both resonant and batter sides of the drumset when changing skin???

It depends on how old they are ... are they stock heads ?

They are remo ut heads. I got it with the set. its been over one year since ive used this skin. Its sounding horrible even after tuning.

Necessary - no.

Recommended - Yes.

If money was not as tight, I'd change both every time, together. What I end up doing is changing resonants every 2-3 batter changes.

If you have any stock heads on your drums, I'd recommend changing them. Some guys are OK with them but they always sound mediocre to bad to my ears,

There's a pretty noticeable difference when you change from stock heads to nicer drumheads, both for batters and resos. Check out the Evans G1 clears. I recommend changing your resos approximately every 3 times you change your batters (assuming you're changing those as often as you should!).

Just an oversight but I think he means changing your resos every 3 times you change your batters. I concur. Do yourself a favor and change both top and bottom.
