Default Best beginner electronic drum kit? (600-1000)

What's the best beginner drum kit I can pick-up? Due to space and noise constraints, an acoustic just isn't an option, and I'm a developer, so if I could hack around with the brain or have sensible output-to-PC options, that would be really cool.

I've heard recommendations for the TD-4KX, but is there something else I should be considering?

The Yamaha DTX500 series of kits should be on your short list as well..if your price range is under $1500

I would go with roland. I have a TD-4 and its a great kit! But, the only thing with electric kits is.. well put it this way,
Does it sound smart to hit something electronic with sticks, and hard too?

Electric kits are good, especially if you can't have the noise and you don't have enough space.. I would go with Roland

But just a heads up -
If you like playing drums, and you have fun with them and you play them a lot, you going to want to go to acoustic in about a year or maybe even before. Its like any other electric instrument, your not going to get the same sound, or feel, or dynamic range.

Difference between a good drummer and a great drummer good = Dynamic Range 5/10 Great = Dynamics 10/10

And you have four eight inch rubber pads, that all have the same bounce, when you move to acoustic, whats it going to feel like going from that 8 inch bouncy pad to that 14 inch floopy floor tom, not the same feel at all.
Electronic Kits are good,
Just a heads up for the future ;)
