Default Is the dw clear/coated batter head exclusively theirs?

Sent this question to dw:

"I recently played a dw bass drum batter head that was labelled as
"Remo medium single ply coated/clear". It was a clear head with a
2" (approx) coated ring around its circumference. Is this the Remo
Powerstroke 3, or is it specially made for dw?"

and got this response:

"Yes those our heads they are made for us By Remo, You can purchase them from our web site.(our site web site is limited to US only sales.)"
http://www.shopatron.com/products/ca...62.21987.0.0.0

I live outside the US, but I was wondering if the Powerstroke 3 (or indeed any other head) is a close approximation to the head I described [apparently dw part#DRDHCC22K]?

Yes, the DW head is essentially a power stroke 3 with a sightly less thick ring inside

Thanks for the response; I was wondering - is the Aquarian Force I the same as the Powerstroke 3, or indeed the dw head in question? The Aquarian website claims that the Force I is the equivalent of the Powerstroke 3 and the Evans EQ1. Any guesses as to which one might be the closest to the dw head?

If DW have told you their head is a Remo PS3, then the closest to that is.....[drum roll]....a PS3. It's just that one bought off the shelf will be branded by Remo and not DW. :-)

That's a good point, but to be fair that isn't what dw said: that's what classicstar said. The guy from dw said "Yes those our heads they are made for us By Remo", which didn't really tell me much. Anyone else know about the Aquarian/Evans heads?

DW's website says this :
"DW is proud to offer the same factory heads that we ship on all of our drums made by Remo USA.
Buy them at your local Authorized DW Retailer."

So yes. All DW heads are made by Remo, using basically DW ideas.

Check out the Evans EQ4. It's a single ply head with an internal overtone control ring.
