Default Evans ST Dry snare head

This head by evans is great!
Two 7.5 mil plies with dry vents around the perimeter

If you are like me and find the wide open super-ringy sound too much
and also find that dampener rings like the rem-o's kill too much
of the tone and you don't want to have to put gaffer tape or moon gel
on your snare - this is the head to check out!

This head is not completely "dry" there is definately some ring
but it is the perfect amount IMO.

You can get a similar sound with a coated emperor
with some peices of duct tape or moongel - but who wants to stick junk on their drums?

This head gives me the snare sound I have been searching for:
Sharp Crack, medium body & subtle overtones...

and when you do a rim shot with only the top 1/3 of your stick
you get a nice: "CRACK-iiNG"

Glad you're digging it! I happen to have one on my 14x6.5" Tama Artstar snare right now. In addition to being quite durable, it's also very sensitive.

Enjoy!

Far too dry IMO, couldn't get any flavor out of it....
I'm digging this reverse power center though, sounds great!

Too dry ? Try some gravy. That should moisten it and really bring out the flavor as well :)

I have one on my 7 x 14 Steambent snare as well and I love it.

Also for Evans Specialist, I just put a 14 inch clear EC2 SST on my Piccolo snare and was surprised how well it sounds. I like to experiment and this head is great for snares as well as toms.
