I'll check yours when I get home Bram. I also have two new 7 nation army-versions coming up. 1 lounge bossa version and one shreds/crappy punk version, both with mind-blowing vocals.
I'll also make a Meg White drum-cover of no one knows.

You are right with the glass prison, and there are 2 more songs.
I think nobody can make a better drum part than Meg, because they decided to make the song like this.
When I recorded this I couldn't find out how to get my headphones louder, so I didn't hear the song very well while I was playing.
Now I know, so maybe I'm going to record it again when I'm finished recording with my band.

2 new tunes done.

Club-mix: Sort of a club-jazz band gone mad. I had a lot of fun making the vocals. Oh, and I've never taken singing-lessons, so beware!

Punk-shred-mix: Worlds crappiest punk-band with a dying drunk vocalist.

Bonus "No one knows[Meg White version]": Request from Pollyanna. If Meg White drummed for Queens of the Stone Age. Drums are recorded with midi-drums through Logic and EZDrummer. Just a quick one, so I didn't make much effort in getting it tight.

Haha, the thread that refuses to die. Hey Bram, it's a stoker! (sorry, had to get that pun out of my system)

Bram, brave effort without being able to hear it properly. Still, not being able to hear properly is good timing and listening practice. I was thinking that you were being highly creative there but Matthias revealed your source lol - still creative to overlay the approach of one track on another like that, of course.

Thaard, you are a complete idiot and I loves ya to bits :) The club mix did me serious damage - Dean Martin after 20 martinis too many? Good brush practice, eh? Almost as funny as your free jazz version ...

The punk "singer" sounded like more like a drunk pirate (were you drinking before these sessions?). The out-of-time drummer cracked me up. Nice touch to find an "applause" track at the end that really did sound like a bunch of punks. Cleva.

Sorry, but you waaay overplayed in the Meg version haha ... is that what Meg would sound like if she took lessons? Sensible not to work to hard to make it tight. After all, Meg's microtiming errors are part of the package - clear enough to keep the ostinato from sounding machine-like but minor enough not to spoil the vibe. Despite the handicap of "excess baggage" it still rocked :)

I really love these two. In general, the effort going into all of these is awesome. Hopefully I can find some time to try one tomorrow.

I just saw this thread while eating dinner, grabbed a copy of the drumless wonder and waited for the 7:30-8pm break for the yoga classes downstairs so my tap-tap-tappity-tap wouldn't disturb their focus , then, when the time arrived, I laid these two beaties for your listening enjoyment.

You are most welcome.

Great that they did a wholehearted version. Musos of that calibre could easily have played it goofy, seeing themselves above the tune.

And of course Will Calhoun rocks like few others!

Hello all,

Interesting versions of this tune!! We play this in my band though a slightly different arrangement than the original. We learned the tune from memory of listening to it on the the radio.

If you search 'Seven Nation Army Remix' in You Tube, you will find some other interesting vesrions!

I will try and get our singer to record her part and post it. Not that your version isn't sweet Polly!!

Cheers

AMB, your singer's version would be most welcome :) Pity you didn't find this thread last year! BTW, there seem to be an awful lot of remixes on da Tube.

Unfunk, you met Living Color? Love Will Calhoun to bits. I remember covering Love Rears its Ugly Head in a jam session and I was really excited about it because the drum part is so wonderful. Really challenging - there's no way I could even try these days.

Hope you like!!

Good one, antmanbe. Liking the feel of that one, though I would have done a couple things differently:

With such a sparse music track, I feel like the song would work better without the backing vocals during the verses, but I would keep them in during the buildup to the louder, guitar part. I'd find a heavier drum sound for the loud parts. Then, when it comes back down, I would bring that electronic drum beat in 2 bars later (right at the beginning of the next verse), and continue it through the second verse rather than fading it.

Hmm, it seems like I would change everything, but it's really not the case. I like the overall composition. These are just tweaks, more or less.

Thanks Boomstick

I had a couple of hours to play so it was a bit thrown together for fun. When I listen back to any tune I do I always want to do stuff differently no matter how long I have been working on it.

Thanks for listening to it though. If time permits I may do another version!!

Cheers

Yeah, I know what you mean. Every time I listen to my band's album, there's things I want to do differently with my drumming, especially when hearing it in the context of the final mix. Oh well. Anyway, I did enjoy you take on 7 Nation. Really dig that hand clapping you've got going, and cool that you got your singer to pitch in.

Boom, another super-enjoyable mashup - Another One Bites the Army.

At this rate the thread will end up as a sticky :)

Matthias me lad, you're getting mixed up - Vinnie's and my drumming bears an uncanny resemblance :-P

Andy, the weird thing is that many moons ago I wrote a song called The Cockroach Shuffle - it was a ska shuffle dance tune. I remember the first two lines of the chorus "Scuttle to the left, scuttle to the right" ... in hindsight it seems I'd had one doobie too many :)

Haha :)
By the way, I didn't want to insult you, it's not that you don't look feminine, it's just that your
features kind of reminded me of him.

Ok, there you go: A weird mixture of styles, no editing whatsoever, badly (badly!!) recorded, and not thoroughly greatly played................
I think I could argue that I wanted that kind of trashy drumsound for purpose, but actually
I didn't :). Plus I played it on my normally jazz setup (the cymbals and BD especially), so
the sound isn't very accurate at all.

Or are you saying that Vinnie looks feminine? :) Okay, I admit it ... I'm Vinnie's ugly sister. They still keep me locked up under the stairwell because they're embarrassed to have a someone bearing the Colaiuta name drumming so badly ...but they left me with a PC and internet connection ...

It took you a while to warm up but some pretty amazing drumming in that lot, Matthias. My fave bit was a jazzy stuff just after the lead and just before the last verse - very tasty!

Hm, my guess is that you'd play Vinnie under the table, so he won't let you join the world
in order to not embarass him!!

thanks thanks! Well yes warmed up, but still not able to record properly!! I could have
used my Zoom Q3 now if I think about it...

SHHHHHHHH! It's supposed to be a secret! That's why we're talking very, very quietly on the world wide web ...

If you record with the Q3 you'll be the first one to do the SNA challenge with visuals.

Oh, I'm sorry!! Tell Vinnie I love him!!!!

Well I'll see if I can do something :). Got my big kit setup again.
Am I going to win something if I'm the first to record a SNA video? :P

By the way, of course the Q3 is also able to record audio only!

Hmmm, first you compare Vinnie with a hot chick like me (haven't been struck by lightning yet) and then you say you love him ... double hmmm :)

Nice bit of fishing but I'm not as generous as DrumNinja - I'm afraid you'd just be doing it for the glory!

But Funky, you were hiding your light behind a bushel!

Thaardy, who told you that no one should witness you yowling into a mic? I think it would be fine sight indeed :)

C'mon you guys, post 'em!

Mainly because of his drumming :).

You wanted it - you have it. There you go:

My video contribution to Seven Nation Army (same idea as before on mp3, but not the same recording in case you don't realize :) )
