Default New Setup, New Drum Room :)

This is my new kit setup, in my new drum room that I finally completed after 2 weeks of constant work! It's in a shipping container, carpeted floors, artificial wall at the loading end with a sound foam filled sliding door (made it myself), all walls have insulation behind the ply and all consist of 2 sheets of ply joined together with green glue which forms a sound absorbing layer all the way around the room. It is 90% sound proof, waiting on studio foam and bass traps to arrive and install into the corners and the roof. I must say something I have noticed is that my floor tom sounds alot deeper and has alot more bass since I moved my drums into the room, it's brilliant :)

If you's would like the stats of my kit just ask :) I've posted my kit before so I'm guessing most people have seen it before, this is just mainly to show off my new lil' room, and the best feature of it is that because its almost totally sound proof I can play any time of day, even at 2am if I wanted to! :D

In Australia, roughly $5000-10000 for a used/decomissioned one =), they work great for home studio's =)

Actually building a 'studio' or drum room in a shipping container is a great idea. If you move house it's not too expensive to have it moved to the new location.

Here in the UK they run about 1,400 - 1,800 plus delivery. I've considered using them to build a recording studio in the past, as they're easy to connect and stack as well. My idea was to buy three 40ft ones. Use two side by side with an adjoining door as the various bits of the studio, and build the control room upstairs. The problem I had was lack of space to put them. :(

Thumbs up and Good luck with that room, it looks great.

This is a cool idea. I'd rather stick it in the house though ;)

How do you play your hihat and slave bass pedal set up that way. That is more than awkward.

I think it's probably fine, if you're playing heel-up...

Which I do =) and it's pretty easy, just gotta move ur foot from side to side to operate the hihat and bass pedal, if George Kollias can do it, I can :) lol

Yeah mate, that's not a bad Idea, If I ever get the cash I might try something like that ^_^, the only problem I've had is with putting the air-con ducts in coz It was a pain in the arse to put it in and try and sound proof it :).

And anyone reading this, dont forget, if you buy one and put you kit in it, and then move house, make sure you take your drum kit out of it before having it moved... otherwise you won't like what you find after it's been moved ^.^
