I played one on a friends snare and I actually liked it.
It sounded best when it was whacked, but it didn't suck wen it was played softer.
I was actually surprised by that.

I think it's a pretty nice head, but I've never taken the time to buy one and use it on any of my snares.

The heaviest head I've used is a Coated Emp with a top dot.
It plays like a regular Emp, but you get the extra support of the dot (which is smaller than a regular CS dot).
In the center I get a fat crack, off center at the edge of the dot is a bit more ring, and off the dot gets a cool "tonk" sound in there, like an Alex Van Halen type thing.

I love it. It's my favorite snare head next to the aquarian hi-energy. I've never broken through one of them.

They sound pretty good cranked up tight. I didn't care for the sound at lower tensions though. It took the life out of the drum, IMO. The heaviest head I really love the sound of, though, is the Ambassador X, and I like a really lively snare sound, so take that into account when considering my opinion! :)
