Default Help choosing heads

Hi! My band are hitting the studio for the first time in a few months so i have starting investigating my next set of drums heads.
I am currently using evans ec2 for my toms and i actually cant remember whats on my snare!!
Anyway i was thinking of getting evans hydraulics for my toms, not sure which resonant head?? or my snare yet.
I play a 4 piece mapex M (12" high 16" floor) set with a mapex black panther steel snare, have a listen to some rough recordings my band has done see which heads you think would suit me best

Cheers.

The studio environment is definitely a different one from live and many people will experiment with different heads. There's nothing wrong with using the same heads in both scenarios, though I've found that maximizing the resonant possibilities of your drums is the best place to start to get a nice, full drum sound. Some Evans G2's would work fine for you (and based on the kind of vision I've got for you guys based on the demos you posted, I'd go with coated heads for a warm sound).

That being said, there's no reason why you couldn't be happy using the EC2's in the studio. Personally, I prefer to get a nice, open and full tone out of my drums when recording so you don't lose the "life" of the kit.

Cheers!

I wouldn't recommend Hydraulics as reso heads. G1 or G Plus heads work fine for resos- coated or clear (depending on how warm a sound you prefer).
