Default LP Micro Snare

So i recently purchased a new setup and included was a LP Micro Snare (8"). They forgot it in the orinigal packages and its supposed to arrive tommorow. So my question...

I play mostly rock/ punk rock/ alternative... will I have any use or application for this. To be honest ive never been big on extras but i might give it a shot. Otherwise it's going on Ebay! Any thoughts are appreciated.

I tried out one of these in a shop recently. Looks great - very cute - but I didn't like the sound, which I found rather toneless and tacky.

Could only find this vid of one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u173bGJ6FbQ#t=0m53s which isn't ideal since the player isn't yet capable of pulling good sounds from the instrument.

Not one of LP's better products IMO but maybe I'm missing something ...

Man, all those drums, hey? :-)

Back on topic.......I've always been curious as to whether I'd ever use a snare that size for anything at all.......I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but never let it be said that I'm not sucker for a gimmick.

That said, I'd be interested in sound files if you have the rig to do it.

Thanks for the replies. Well its basically new but its not in the package or anything so ill give it a run, i sold a lot of other stuff on ebay so itll probably end up on there and go towards my new brass pork pie snare haha. If i can find a way to record it ill throw up some files.

Dr, will you let us know what you think if you get it? As Pocket said, sound files would be interesting. You could be the first to post an in-time example of the drum on YouTube :)

Just wanted to update you all on this snare... I play rock/ punk rock and it just wasnt for me. I put it on Ebay with a Buy It Now of 73.99 and it sold. I took the money and upgraded my snare (8x14 mapex big cat). Anyway, if you buy one new its 99.99 and i would just save your money and you could get a solid quality actual snare (maybe 10 or 12") for not to much more. It sounded dead and doesnt have a bottom head or anything. Maybe someone who played softer jazz type music would find more applications for it, but i really had no use.
